Cleaning & Overhaul
Organs are mainly located in churches (although we also look after some school organs), where they progressively become dusty and dirty. The recommended period between cleanings is 20-25 years, although in some environments (e.g. where there is a lot of passing traffic), this can be considerably shorter. Dirt and dust impair good pipe speech, and can also lead to ‘off’ notes and stops.
We are happy to inspect the organ and advise on whether a cleaning would restore the brightness and reliability of the instrument. A cleaning is also a good time to rectify small faults (e.g. collapsing pipework), or to carry out a more thorough restoration, which will rejuvenate the organ for many more years of service.
